The Joy You’re Looking For Is Already On The Platform

The Joy You’re Looking For Is Already On The Platform

I was exhausted.
Midnight. Nagpur Station. Late train. Mosquitoes doing their best opera.
And then joy walked in.
On four tiny legs.
Carried by an old railway woman with more wisdom in one sentence than most self-help books I’ve read.
That night reminded me:
Joy isn’t something we chase. It’s something we notice.
Weddings, travel, late nights — it had drained me.

Joy isn’t something we chase. It’s something we notice.

Weddings, travel, late nights — it had drained me.
You know that feeling. When your body is moving but your spirit feels a little empty.

But in that empty, tired moment, life handed me a masterclass.

The old woman sat next to me with a kitten in her pouch.
I worried about the kitten. Stray dogs. Danger.
She laughed and said, “And why am I here for? It’s my one job to take care of this being.”

Then she told me her story.
She had lost her husband to malaria. Her son to an accident.
For a long time, there was nothing. Sleepless nights. Empty days.

Until one evening, a stray kitten followed her home.
She gave it milk. It purred. It leaned into her.
And in that small moment, she found a reason to smile again.

Her last words to me still sit in my heart:
“The essence of life lies not in one’s own happiness, but in the joy, one can bring to others through their actions.”

Wiser than any talk. Simpler than any philosophy.
And it’s true. We complicate what was never meant to be complicated.

You are in control of your life.
And joy? Joy is built in the small, daily choices.

Here are 5 habits I now live by — and that I guide my clients to practice:

    1. START YOUR DAY WITH PURPOSE, NOT PHONES
Before Instagram. Before emails. Before the world.
Stretch. Sip your chai. Place your hand on your heart.
Say: “I know this day will be better than expected.”
I call it the 7 AM Courage.
Do the important things first. Approach even boring tasks with energy.
Because how you start the day is how you meet your life.

    1. MOVE YOUR BODY TO MOVE YOUR MOOD
Don’t be a couch potato of all the things you could be.
Walk. Stretch. Dance in your kitchen.
Science proves it, but your body already knows: movement releases the hormones of joy.
Lethargy is a habit. Energy is a choice. Choose it daily.

    1. RETURN TO NATURE TO REMEMBER PEACE
The city gets loud. Your head gets louder.
Go sit under a tree. Watch water. Feel sunlight.
      Garden. Trek. Just breathe outside.
Nature doesn’t ask anything of you. It just reminds you who you are — calm, grounded, alive.

    1. PRACTICE KINDNESS WITHOUT A REASON
Hold the door. Smile at a stranger. Send the text.
You don’t need money or time to do this.
That railway woman taught me: fulfilment comes from what you give, not what you get.
Every act of kindness is a boomerang. It comes back to you as peace.

  1. LIVE YOUR PASSION LOUDLY
Draw. Dance. Cook. Build. Sing off-key.
What makes you forget time? Do more of that.
This is your one life. Don’t do it quietly.
Pour yourself into it like every brushstroke matters — because it does.

Everything is temporary.
YOU are permanent.

At the end of life, no one asks how much you earned.
They ask how much you lived. How much you laughed. How much love you gave and received.

Materials won’t follow you. Memories will.

If you’re walking around with a shallow smile, tired of chasing joy in big events…
Stop.

The joy you’re looking for is already on the platform.
In a cup of chai. In a purr. In a kind word. In your next breath.
You just have to notice it.

READY TO GO DEEPER?

If you’re ready to move from surviving to truly living, I’m here to walk with you.
